1989 740
I am replacing the compressor and Accumulator in my 740 and converting to R-134.
I went to the FAQ (See: http://screencast.com/t/xdZGR7nhGO ) and it says for the Sanden 709 I am using to use 1/4th Quart of Ester Oil, which is 8oz, yet down below in the chart, it says "what came out, or 2.4oz min."
The Sanden 709 comes with PAG already in it, so I will drain it completely and re-fill with Ester. Since I am draining/refilling I guess I should measure what comes out and replace it exactly?
The 4-Seasons website for my vehicle shows 4.5 oz of oil (note that this shows R-12 and mineral oil since it's OEM Spec). That isn't even CLOSE to the .25 QT, or 8oz, recommended in the Volvo FAQ in the above link, of course.
(See 4-Seasons: http://screencast.com/t/yHFUXIXT )
So I am confused as to how much Ester Oil I should add to my system.
How (from what fitting) will I get the most out? Should I invert the compressor and turn it by hand to pump out the oil, or just remove a threaded plug and drain w/ out turning the compressor shaft by hand?
