replaced motor mounts. now I have an alarming clunk 200

The car is a 1982 Volvo GLT with the B23 E engine.

I started to replace the motor mounts because of some clunking noises I was hearing when starting up the engine.

I installed the right front but the noise persisted.

I replaced the transmission mount and then I really had problems. The noise was much worse and sounded like I had left a tool somewhere and it was thrashing around. The noise came from the right front of the car.

I then replaced the left motor mount and this was the first mount that was actually broken The others had all been intact. I thought I had the problem.

Nope. Today I took the car for a test drive and it runs okay if I am running in a straight line. But if I turn left or brake hard or hit some bumps the noise returns. It is not a steady noise. Rather it almost sounds like some large piece of metal occasionally thrashing around

I used my floor jack to raise the car and I began using the suspension rear bushing bracket instead of my usual practice of using the suspension crossmember join with the frame. I then can put the jackstand under the proper jacking point. Not sure if this caused me a problem.

I now have the wheel off and can find some slack when I turn the hub. Not sure how kosher this is and it could be the source of the noise.
