Dash lighting comes on when I step on the brakes 200 1991

Hi All, the car is a 91 245SE.

I've noticed that the dash lighting comes on dimly when I step on the brakes (the lighting for the HVAC controls, etc.) I suspect there mush be a poor ground somewhere, so electricity is grounding through the lighting, but I'm not sure how to track down the actual culprit ground point, any suggestions? Or is this normal?
