What is this doing in my transmission pan? 900 1995

While attempting to replace the kickdown cable, I discovered this piece stuck to one of the magnets in the transmission pan. It is metal, about 1.5" x .75" with a little roller at the end. What is it? The transmission shifts kinda late, but I had attributed that to a sticking cable, hence the attempt to replace it. Any help or insight would be much appreciated!
