To replace fuel line into fuel filter would break it. Banjo fitting not available. Leave it? 700 1990

Seems that no one has given my 1990 Volvo 740 GL a tune-up in many years. My mechanic needs to replace the cracked distributor cap and plugs, and notes that the fuel line into the fuel filter is rigidly affixed - to remove it, would break it, and he can't, as yet, find the part with that banjo gasket fitting. (He's very good at finding parts).

The car had been running well. Should I just let this go, or keep looking for a replacement part. Thank you, with apologies for sufficient knowledge...just time.
