Car Quest water pump....Italian made?? any good? 200

I bought an '84 244 turbo with blown engine. Got it for the value of it's Virgo wheels and tires. Couldn't see it going to scrap. In the trunk was an, "All New," Car Quest water pump, p/n 9049. Outside of box says, "made in Italy." Huh? What have I got? Any good? Likely this is about 3 years old. Not sure of shelf life of water pumps; depends on how good the assembly lube is I guess. This was not in any damp condition.

In the past I've always tried to use actual Volvo made pumps. I seem to recall a Jap outfit made good pumps too, (GPC?), but the impeller was better on the Volvo unit. What do all of you prefer currently?? (I'm out of touch now on water pumps) I figure on doing a timing belt and nose job on our '89 soon, so am wondering if I should get a brand new pump at that time - probably should. Don't know if I'd use this one.

Anyone have experience with an Italian pump?

(Oh, my '84 parts car has a nice body; was thinking of putting in my naturally aspirated 1976 motor in it rather than try to find a good FT engine. Would take a different computer and wiring harness, but I think that's all. Plus a lot of work)
