Hi friends just acquired an about to be junked 740, runs great, has the usual leaking valve cover(prob from clogged flame trap) and this steering problem, at any speed turning in either direction, the steering wheel feels like it "locks up" but then catches and turns, for that moment I feel like its not gonna turn but it turns everytime. I searched through the forums a little and found someone talking about u joints as their issue for a similar problem. when it catches it sometimes makes a ping noise. is this a serious issue that could result in my hurting myself if it fails? expensive job?
