1991 240 B230 engine auto tranny. I live in the sticks of rural KS....can the cat converter be eliminated on these engines? I prefer to leave them but was just curious since my tailpipe has black residue I assume my O2 sensor is bad and the converter is clogged since I have low flow through my tail pipe....

Just curious....I'll more than likely buy a new setup but thought to ask.
