Yesterday I saw an ad on eBay for some OEM Volvo, extra wide rims that one of our frequent flyers (agent_strangelove) has for sale. This prompted me to write him, to wish him luck and to
ask him what he knew about the rims I took off my '62 2dr last year. The centers are stamped with the following-89991, either a /61 or a /6/-not sure, but I believe it is the former, a hard to read #2 (bigger and a different type face than the 89991, and an "S" inside what looks like a modified, geometric fish. The bolt pattern is the standard 5 on 4.5. They will accept the early 10" hubcap and are 15". They appear untampered with but the rims measure just over 7" wide outside of rim to outside of rim. They had 195 Michelins on them. I never noticed any rub or a
increased turning circle. I drove on these for about 3 years before putting stock estate rims back on. A_S says the numbers are correct for the early wheels. They show no sign of being widened by having a spacer inserted. Could the 89991 center have been removed from the stock rim and welded into a these wider rims? The welding looks like a factory job. Can one buy just a wheel rim w/o a center?
