Just got hit up by a friend with a window question... Can the rear side door window that got broke in a '82 GL wagon with power windows be replaced with the window from a 8* wagon with manual windows?
I found the chat to be rather entertaining:
8:34 PM Yakage: Matt! Do you know the best place to replace a volvo window?
8:36 PM me: the windshield?
Yakage: Bella and the neighbor girl decided to throw rocks over Shelley's car and my car was on the other side
rear passenger
me: Oh dear...
8:37 PM Yakage: yeah, i know. Expensive tempered glass
me: well, that's a pricey piece of glass... but there's plenty of 'em here.
Installation, I don't know
8:38 PM rear passenger... in the door? Or the big one in the cargo area?
8:40 PM Yakage: I can probably handle that, I think. I have done it before on my last volvo
If not, Carl
Door
me: oh, door. That should be easy.
8:41 PM and I've got access to.. uh... oh, a half dozen or so windows.
Only potential issue is the power windows... all the parts cars are manual windows, but... shit. I'm sure the glass is the same
8:47 PM Yakage: It will fit good enough. I think that was a slight issue on the last one too. Power windows with a manual glass. If I remember right, there was a 1/8-1/4" gap at the top, no big deal
Put a cramp in tomorrow's plans, though. Going to Legofest in Denver with a car load of kids.
