somthing metal idle problem 200

There’s a metal “gadget” that is attached by a smaller hose going off the AMM big hose up by the intake that goes to this thing that has another hose on it and also another thing that plugs into the ‘back” of it. It looks as if it could be removed fairly easily.

I think its called something like the “Idle motor” and has something to do with----tadaaa--the idle of course. So, the brick has been occasionally stopping lately, when idling, on its own but starts right up. Question is could it be that metal “thing” for sure, can be taken off and cleaned out? If that’s what it is, and can be cleaned, it'll save me some $$$ as the Bosch NEW replacement, and NOT from the dealer, is almost $200. Whats weird is an after market one costs more than the OEM.

One more thing, What model brick had the small tach and small clock in the area close to the radio? I have the large clock in the cluster, and want to install the small "Volvo" tach in that place by the radio in one of those square plastic things that can be removed easily.

Thanks for your responses in advance. :o)
