'89 240 Gas tank vent clogged? 200

When I go to fill up my tank I can't just pop the hose in and set the handle because after a couple gallons go in the back pressure stops the pump.

I have to pull the nozzle out a bit to let the back pressure out and then I can continue pumping gas. It usually shuts off several times during fill up and I have to adjust the nozzle and continue filling.

It seems there is a vent or something blocked but I couldn't find it in my Bentley manual.

Any ideas?
