Opinion on hacksawing around fuel filter 200

My son was replacing the fuel pump & filter, and the 19MM banjo bolt on the filter became stuck or stripped. I got a used replacement banjo bolt, but I want to get out the fuel feeder line part (it's over $50 new, $78 or so from dealer). I might be able to cut the head off the banjo bolt, but was wondering if that would be dangerous around a fuel filter - is there a chance a spark would ignite fumes in the fuel filter? I took the other banjo bolt off to let the filter "air out". Opinions? Thanks.
