1988 fuel pressure regulator on 97 960 900 1997

I'v been slowly fixing the minor issues that seem to plague the 97 960 that I bought a few months ago. Most of them were due to poor or no maintenance by the PO. One of the problems was that the car would almost never fire on the first crank, requiring up to five tries before it would catch. I suspected that it was fuel starvation, but with trying to keep the 240 and an Isuzu of my daughter's on the road, and write a novel, I haven't taken the time to really trouble shoot the 960.

As I was digging through the "six of everything" that I have for the B230F motors the other day, I came across a fuel rail from one of the FT engines and noted that the pressure regulator was still attached. Saturday when I decided to look at the 960 fuel problem, the first thing that I saw under the hood was the pressure regulator that looked an awful lot like the one on the 88 model fuel rail. As an experiment, I swapped them out and, Voila, the car started firing on the first rotation of the engine.

Next is the intake manifold gasket.

Regards,
