Squealing in the engine compartment - could it be water pump? 900 1994

My '94 940 wagon (171K miles) is occasionally making a squealing sound. Today I opened the hood while the engine was running to see if I could locate it. I noticed some very slow (drop at a time) seepage from the top of the water pump. It got me wondering if a bearing in the water pump could be failing.

I did not notice any of the belts looking old, shiny or dried out. I don't recall how long it has been since I serviced the belts but I've stuck pretty faithfully to the normal service schedule intervals, and I think I would have had the belts replaced at the 150K service or 160K service, whichever is the "bigger" one. I want this car to last.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. BTW, should I try some belt dressing? or should that be avoided (since it might mask a problem, right?)?

Thanks, in advance, for any ideas or a short list of suggestions for a mechanic to look at.
