On a recent day trip to see the Catskill colors, the check engine light came on. No noticable change in running. Since I do not have the means to read and then decipher the codes, I brought it to a mechanic friend. He noticed that at least three cylinders had bad wires to the coils. I replaced all the ignition wires soldering new Volvo leads onto the stubs. I also replaced the #1 coil with a new unit. No more check engine light, but now the engine runs rough. Some times it smooths out at aroung 1500 rpms, but usually there is a regular miss when i am driving in town.
I rechecked all the connections to the coils, and they are solid. All have good continuity.
I checked some of the vacuum connections and replaced three bad sections of line.
Thanks for any help. This is a great car that I hope will last a long time.
