It turns out the fuel pressure regulator was bad. Also a leak between Cat to header pipe. The metal donut between the two pipe flanges was too small and the 3 nut/bolts could not tigthen the collar assembly. You could actually spin the collars. I wrapped the donut with exhaust manifold tape to build it out and reinstall for a tight clamp connection.
So now the bad.....My 87 740T wagon just failed smog in Cali and this one is old with over 300k miles with bad interior... it is time to retire to the state for $1000 to $1500.
Gonna keep the 240.
....but question on 240 auto tranny. After backing out of driveway or parking spot, when I then put into D, there is a slight hestitation/slip in tranny before it kicks in, then it drives/shifts great. Only happens with the R to D transition.
thoughts gang???
