First, a question about tire wear. I know that when the center of the tread wears it is due to over inflation, I understand that, but some things dont add up. The tire pressure on the side wall states a max tire inflation of 44 psi, I have all mine set at 36 (as indicated inside the door). The part that gets me is that it only happened on the rear tires, both sides, fairly evenly (evenly down the center that is). I have since rotated my tires, but it has not been long enough to see if the tires previously on the front (now at the rear) are doing it. If both front and rear were doing it at the same time I could understand it. The fronts show now (abnormal) wear in any way for the miles on them. The other cause as I have read is too wide of a tire on too narrow rims. I have the original steel 14" wheels that came with my '92 and the tire size while is a little wide(215/60 14). I dont think it is excessively wide for the wheel, but I could be wrong on that. I chose that size because I like a little wider tire and this one has nearly the exact same over all diameter as the stock tire size (185/70 14). But again, only on the rear wheels? If over inflation/too wide tire is the cause should it have done this on all 4 tires?
Could it be caused by carrying 100-150 lbs of tools in my trunk all the time (for work)?
The other odd thing is this; I have NEVER seen my SRS light off. Today after filling up (gas) I reset the trip odometer as I always do with a full tank. The button for this is a bit sticky and I have to really push at it to get it to rest properly, but this time I did it a few times, rapidly. I noticed that the SRS light was off, but after about 2 miles, it cam back on. I will admit, I am too broke/cheap (only now because I am trying to save up to move very soon) to bring it to the dealer to have it looked at. I am wondering now, since by pushing the trip reset buttong hard/rapidly shut it off if only for a few minutes, if it is not something faulty in the instrument panel and my SRS system is fine?
and now for a total newb stupid question. what is the difference between a 240, 242, 244 and 245?
