240 won't start..

Hello, month old battery went dead complete, wouldn't start now I charged it and it clicked but the starter didnt start. Tried it again and it started right up. Ran it a minute it and turned it off. Tried to start it and click the starter didnt work. Tried it again a few times and it would turn the motor and not start. There is a black wire that grounds to the same bolt on the motor the battery bolts to that does not connect to anything, anyone know what that wire is intended to ground? Ugh... Any advice?
