The (a?) source of my oil leak 85 245 200 1985

I thought I was going to replace the plug in the back of my engine (the cam plug?). So I bought the plug and today I bought the cam shaft cover gasket.

I took off the cover just now, and noticed a few things.

1. It came off really easy. Should it?

2. There was oily spots on the bottom of the gasket (towards the engine). They were located almost exactly where I've always had oil leaks but could not necessarily tell.

3. the gasket appeared to be stiff AND deformed, including one of the areas where the oil leak is.

I really hope this is the issue, and i don't have to replace the plug (which seems to be more work than I want to do...especially if it might not have been an issue).

The oily locations are as follows. The #4 (?) plug/back of the engine (passenger side) and the opposite side for #1. the front I always assumed it was due to the flame trap/breather box on the front and the plug for the rear.

Hopefully when I get it back together, the leak ends OR at least moves somewhere less annoying.
