A commonly told story: "I'm glad I was in a Volvo....' 200

About two months ago, we acquired a '95 940 wagon, our fifth red-block Volvo. Bought it for $1K, put $500.00 into repairs, and were, to put it mildly, thrilled to death with it.

Last week, someone sailed through a stop sign and I nailed her in the driver's rear quarter. No injuries, thankfully, but if she had been a split second slower, it might have been a different story. I suspect that texting was involved, but that's another story...

Both airbags on the 940 deployed and the (brand new) windshield cracked. I started the car and drove the 3 blocks back to our house. As of Friday, the 940 was declared a total loss, as was here 2009 Kia.

Her insurance gave me a fair settlement. As to replacing this fine automobile: it won't be easy.
