Flashing pulsing dash lights...??? 200 1983

I have a nice running 1983 with no other known electrical problems, but now I often find that the "trouble" lights along the bottom of the dash instruments flash and pulse, varying in intensity with engine speed. It seems that I have read about this issue before, but I can't seem to find any posts describing this problem. Is this a well known problem?
