I had my starter rebuilt earlier this year for my 92 240. I didn't deal directly with the rebuild shop because I wasn't sure of the problem and had taken it to a trusted mechanic. He sent it to them and they told him that it was quite dry. I guess they meant in the sense of lubrication.
Anyway, now it's cranking very slowly for the first start of the day, just as if the battery is weak, which it isn't. Then when the car starts it does a little screeching like it's not disengaging from the flywheel quickly enough.
1. Battery is good
2. The rest of the starts during the day are at perfectly normal cranking speed.
3. There may be a problem with the fuel backflow valve on 1st startup of the day as it takes quite a bit longer for gas to get to the engine. Maybe 10 seconds.
4. This is a new problem.
Haven't done one of these before. Is access easier from above or below the engine? Junkyard or rebuilt? Junkyard wants $45. Rebuilt seems to be about $120. SO thanks in advance for any tips.
