VOLVO A/C conversion question. 200 1992

New AC question

I bought my 1992 240 wagon last week from a person who had their car maintained by Volvo mechanics in Austin. The AC system was converted to R-134 with Volvo parts ($$$$$). The switch did not work until I cleaned the fuse bank and when I turned the system on it cycled twice for about 1 second--then I turned it off. Here is my question.

I don’t know how long the AC has been out, so I am afraid to run it again until I add a/c oil. However, I read somewhere that some AC systems do not need oil-- Freon only. Does anyone know it this is one of those freon only systems (its genuine Volvo)? In addition, how much Freon should I add?

Thank you,
J.
