Did I just short out my new resistor? 900 1993

My blower fan only works on the highest setting (number 5). I followed the directions in the FAQs, and replaced the resistor, but I forgot to disconnect the battery when I installed it.

Did I just fry the resistor?

The fan still only spins on the highest setting, so either the resistor isn't working, or there's some other problem...

Any ideas? Is it the relay? Do the lower speeds on the fan motor burn out, so it only operates on "high"?

Any advice would be appreciated.
