780: getting exterior moldings off??? 700

Hi everyone,

As some of you know, I am in the slow (very slow, too slow to some of my folks opinion) process of rebuilding my damaged 1989 blue 780.

Luckyly, I have bought a wreck 1988 780 for parts - and as a practice car.

HERE IS MY PROBLEM: Due to damage on the edge of the roof (exactly where the roof turns down towards the passenger side front and rear windows), I need to have someone body-work the edge of the roof and repaint the car eventually. To do that, I need to get the chrome moldings off and possibly the rear side windows too. I have already stripped the interior of the "parts car" so I have a good knowledge of the area.

Is there anyone who has attempted this before, without actually breaking the moldings? Is there a kind of HOW TO for this part of the car?

The 780 informations in the FAQ seem to suggest the rear side windows can be pulled off in some sort of way. I have not yet been able to do this (maybe because my wrecked pratice car is so rusty in that area?).

Any help would be appreciated from those 780 connaisseurs! Thank you.
