1992 240 AT 235K miles has developed a slight skip or hesitation. Lasts less than 1-second; doesn't feel like the typical hesitation from a loose connection. It almost feels like it's starting to shift and then doesn't.
So far (500+ miles of it) it's unpredictable. It might be when the engine is not fully warmed up eg. the 1st 20 miles. It's not just under load; when wet (or dry); or cold out or hot out. At 1st I thought it was only with a full tank but now I'm not sure.
Yesterday it did it ~ 10 times during the 1st-3rd of a 30-mile trip. Coming home later it was fine. Today it's been doing it through most of several 10-12 mile trips.
Possibilities I can think of: 1) failing CPS; 2) failing MAS; 3) bad plug wire (or wires); 4) bad spark plug; 5) failing fuel filter; 6) loose/ corroded connection. But, again, the pause isn't long enough for what I've experienced w/ bad connections.
This car doesn't have the 25-A underhood fuse.
