Intermittent electrical problem - Where to start? S90-V90

I have a 1998 S90 with an intermittent electrical problem. Sometimes when I start the car, I cannot shift out of park. The brake interlock does not work. I have to push the over-ride button to get it out of park. Also, the blinkers don't work. Since it's intermittent, it can't be a fuse. Do both of these things run through the same wire harness or relay? I'm really perplexed as to how to diagnose this. Thanks for any thoughts you can give me.
