Clunk in front end is apparent over small bumps and when moving the steering wheel quickly back and forth while driving slowly or stopped. Upon inspection under the car, clunk appears to be coming from approximately the center of the steering rack. I can't feel any play in the inner tie rod joints under the boot, or outer tie rods, or ball joints. Passenger-side steering boot has a lot of fresh oil on it that doesn't look like ATF from the power steering pump. I'll inspect more closely tomorrow with the boots pulled further off the inner tie rod joints. Any ideas about a clunk in the center of the rack combined with an oil-covered boot?
