740 Turbo Fuel Pump 700 1990

Today I picked up a 1990 Volvo 740 Turbo, I currently have 90 740GL which I am used to working on.

Currently it doesn't run, the dealer said it was the fuel pump/sending unit and took out the old one (they covered the tank hole up), but before they installed a new one the previous owner said no, as they were wanting to charge him too much.

I picked up this car for $400, it has 74k and is clean inside and out however it's been sitting for about two years. I had the car towed to a local shop who specializes in volvos and am going to order the fuel pump for him to install.

I'm pretty sure that this has the Bosch system with two pumps, main being under the car next to the filter and the the other mounted on the sending unit. The dealer took out the sending unit which just has the prepump, can this definitely cause the car not to start? And is there any way to visually tell a sending unit/prepump apart from the newer rex/regina units where they have only one pump becasue they look the same?

I found a couple online and I'm trying to save some money, but I don't want to buy the wrong unit, there are pictures of both so if there was something that differentiated the two that would be helpful.

Thank you
