Hello-
Somebody gave me (for free) this ’67 122 (P130) shell after he was done stripping it for the parts that he wanted (some kid gave it a rattle can paint job that made it look a lot worse than I thought it was in). I was going to cut the rest up for body panels, but when I started to look at it, it seemed that the body wasn’t that bad.
I’m thinking that I’m going to save it from the crusher and since it’s already taken apart, it’s going to get a good paint job (plus I have a new set of front fenders and new nose section). Nice thing about it, is that it’s a ‘67.5 body and I already have all the parts to convert it to 4-wheel disc brakes (front and rear et al from an ’73 1800). I also have a collapsible steering column from a ’68.
Some bad about the car includes the front DS fender support getting crushed (really bad repair or lack of repair to it), some rust on the floor boards (seems minor-has a couple of rust holes in it, but not near any of the boxes), a little rust around the gas tank sheet metal (would need to be cut out and a used one welded in), normal rust behind the rear wheel well (holes on both sides) and both rear sill are puttied over (seems to need them cut out and ones welded in) and a little sheet metal damage to the PS rear quarter panel (doesn’t seem that anybody puttied it in).
I’m missing a lot of parts to it too, no glass, most of the trim is gone, no dash, trunk lid is crunched (I have a nice one for a ’63 122->I liked the handle), no bumpers ->pictures shows it all. Seems I need a rusted 2-dr to put this one back together.
Let me know what you think.
Paul
BTW-If anybody knows a good body shop in the Denver/Ft Collins area or a not save-able 122 (P130), let me know.
