Final foot note on an expired thread from Oct re: 940 Turbo suddenly loses gas after 5 minutes ... 900

A final note on this prior saga: HELP 940 Turbo suddenly loses gas after 5 minutes of driving; mechanic puzzled

About 2 months after experiencing success by changing the fuel filter, the exact same symptoms occurred. Initially convinced that something was disintegrating in the tank and clogging the filter, I promptly changed the filter with the intention of diving into the tank to find the problem.

When the problems re-occurred again 1 day later I realized there was more to the story:
1) I checked the filter I had just taken out (the one I had put in 2 months ago) by filling it with rubbing alcohol and blowing it out the other side to see what was clogging: nothing.
2) Pressure tested the fuel rail: low pressure
3) Swapped out the pressure regulator on the rail: no effect
4) Pressure tested the fuel line from the tank to the main pump: 15psi - good
5) Conclusion: must be the main fuel pump after all
6) Replaced main pump. Up and running.

Mapleleafer - kudos to you!
