Howdy all,
Our next contest will be identification of steering racks. I present to you the following photos:
Driver side inner tie rod boot.
Passenger side inner tie rod boot.
Note that a search of the brickboard has shown that ZF type racks have inner tie rods with a little disc on the rod that the boot clamps to. The Cam type racks have boots that taper down directly to the inner tie rod. It's not totally clear to me which type I have.
The build plate in the back of the wagon has code 2, indicating a "cam" type steering rack from the factory, but the rack was replaced in 2002. The model number 5003666 does correspond to a Jorgen rack offered at FCP seen here.
I'm planning on a big overhaul of the front end this Sunday with fellow Brickboarder 245DogWaggin and I need to get the correct inner tie rod ends.
Let me know what you think.
