No Crank! Starter dead? 700

Hi All
This am I have new probelm with the beast. No Crank. I Left overhead light on, doesnt dim at all. Unfortunatley no starter service socket at all(has no schraeder on rail either). Tried running a ground from battery to starter but no crank(this step I had to half ass with a piece of 12guage bx cause wife has the jumper cables). To test nuetral safety switch, you can hear solenoid click when trying to start in Park and Nuetral but NO solenoid clicking when trying to start in R, 1,2,or D. Tried whackig the starter with heavy wrench...nada. Anything else I need to test before replacing the starter?
