Well- after nine winters my Hakkapelitta's are done. And I can't afford $160/each for new ones.

So I've seen General Altimax for $57/ea at tirerack. And Consumer's Reports rates them highly - the same rating as the $160 Nokians, actually (!...?)

Too good to be true, or can anyone confirm CR's glowing review?

Also considering Hankook iPike W409. Discount Tire has them at $89, with a $100 off deal this week, so about $260 for the set. But CR doesn't rate them as well...

Lastly - anyone have the Nokian Nordman 2? At $78 (tire-easy.com) they're almost $100 less than the Hakkapelitta's...

Anyone care to steer me away before I 'click myself' a set of the Altimax???
