240dl sedan with 146k miles
I'm redoing the front calipers, rotors, brakes, ball joints, the dust covers behind the rotors (old ones look like swiss cheese), and repacking the wheel bearings.
The control arm rear bushings (both sides) were replaced 11 years ago at ~79,000 miles. As far as I know, the outer tie rods, front struts, front control arm bushings, anti roll (sway) bar bushings, and anti roll bar link bushings have never been replaced.
In looking over these parts, the struts are not leaking. Some of the control arm and sway bar linkage bushings have some cracks, but nothing that looks major to me. And the tie rod ends look ok.
But I have 146K on the car, and easy access to these parts given what is currently being redone.
Not knowing what the life expectancy of some of these other front end parts is, what would others recommend I do now vs. defer until it is clear they need to be replaced?
