161,000 miles. Should I R&R the in tank pump and/or the short rubber fuel line between the pump and the pipe before it fails? It is the original from the factory.
When i had the rear main engine seal replaced recently, I asked my mechanic to please check the fuel pressure coming off the in-tank pump. Both jobs that I have the ability to do, but not the inclination. He reported back that it checked okay. The tank was intentionally nearly empty in case I had to replace that pump. I had purchased the IPD kit with the taller pump just in case.
I am going to gift this car, which is in great shape (except the failing paint job) to my son who joined the service. He has helped me maintain the car over the years and has learned a lot from it (in terms of maintenance, driving skills and dealing with the typical automotive bruising young drivers can induce.
So what are y'alls thoughts please. I have no idea what the typical life span of the factory in-tank pump is or the small length of hose.
Thanks!
