Just got my new shift knob, courtesy of eBay, and have read the FAQ section on auto trans knob replacement.

I plan to add 1 step to the process ...
After removing the old knob, I'll solder 1-2 inches of wire to the overdrive wires, with shrink wrap on the solder joints.
I figure that will make re-attaching the OD switch a bit easier.
