I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I have an unusual issue with my 240DL. There are two things going on, and the first thing ... eh, I just think it's that funky temperature gauge giving false readings thing that I COULD just ignore, but the stalling? I don't know, and my mechanic didn't fix it.
Here's what's going on and what's been done to the car within the last month.
Replaced Master Cylinder
replaced front pads, resurfaced rotors
replaced gauge and mixture temp senders
remaining issue, at random (not on every drive but most) temp gauge goes way up, then back to normal too quickly to be accurate, checked engine when reading high, not overheating, hoses normal to the touch
sometimes corresponding to this and sometimes not,
***stalls at idle, seems to continue this until it has sat for awhile. driven at freeway speed periodically misses(same issue) so air flow seems to have nothing to do with it, issue can show up within 3min of driving, not at all, or not for an hour.
possible causes; worn wiring harness, shorting fuse, bad replacement senders?
Any ideas would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks - Dave
