Hi there,
Ok I know we've all been through this before, and usually I don't even bother posting about 240 brake/tail lights.. well because you know why. This time however I'm a little perplexed. First off lemme say that my thinking is in a bad ground, however it gets a little interesting.
1) Noticed a little while ago, that whenever my gf turned on her lights, the fog light switch LIGHT, would go on, even if the switch was not turned ON.
2)Because of that, I'm thinking short somewhere thats activating that circuit, to turn on the fog light switch light..(still with me)
3)with further investigation found that the driver's side rear tail light, below the foglight wasn't working, so I cleaned all the connections back there..
NOW< two things, One I noticed that the #1 ground that comes into that white plastic pin connector had some damage, looks like it heated up and melted some plastic over itself.. cleaned that off and the corresponding connection...
ok, now the weird part.. regardless of whether or not the foglight switch is in the ON position, when the driver's side foglight is plugged in, the foglight switch Light goes on... but not the rear foglight, or foglights for that matter.
ALSO, with a voltmeter I noticed that the driver's side foglight was only getting juice when the tail light right below it was plugged in!!
SO... thanks for reading...
My next step is to replace/check the foglight switch just in case, then check some more grounds... does anyone know what that first black wire in position #1 goes too? I'm just hoping maybe someones gone through this before.. otherwise I'm just going to have to track it down ... somehow
THANKS again
CP
p.s. the passenger side rear foglight is not working either, however the tail light is working right below it, also the brake lights on that side are NOT working, i.e. the tail lights come on with the headlamps, but don't Brighten for the brakes.. also the third brake light is working... just thought I should include everything...
