I just purchased a 1992 240 from a dealer that may have been sitting a few months. I had driven it a few days without problems on the open road and in town.
Then the car, while driving, stalled twice within 10 minutes of each other. After running some errands, the first stall happened when I was going about 40 MPH. I managed to pull off a side road and the car started right up again. I just thought this might be a fluke. The second stall happened about 10 minutes later after I stopped into a business for about 5 minutes. When I started the car, and after about three minutes, the car stalled again going about 15 MPH, and I pulled off the side of the road. Again, the car started right back up.
The car starts and idles smoothly. I have tried just idling the car several different times by letting it run a few minutes and turning off, and then restart. I would do this over several times. I did this to see if it would stall like it did while driving. It ran smoothly idling and never stalled.
Does anyone have any ideas to the cause? Any easy things to look for first? Thanks, John
