HELP!!! MY 1990 245 DL IS RUNNING LIKE CRAP ALL OF SUDDEN. 200

My 1990 245 DL with 257k miles was running prefect until all of sudden, the "check engine light" came on. Right After that light came on, i noticed that my car was reving @ a higher rpm when just idling, the temp gauge was almost near the top, it studars when accelerating, and died the 1st time i went to start it this morning. (my "obd1 engine bay box" does not work - to make things more difficult)
I went through and checked several things, but ran out of ideas. 1st, I checked to see if the Flame Trap was clogged. (nope, it is actually brand new)
2nd, I did the "2 person fuel pump check". (held a ear to the fuel opening while another person turned the key to postion 2). the in-tank pump was very quite, but i did hear it. 3rd, i changed out all of the european fuses and the fuel pump fuse in the engine bay. 4th, i double checked that there was no missing, cracked, or discounted hoses. 5th, checked to make sure the o2 sensor wires were still attached @ the o2. 6th, checked the plugs and wires. 7th - There is the proper amount of coolant & oil in the car And the fuel is @ about 3/4 tank & It does'nt smoke @ all.
I can not find anything wrong!!! if you have an idea of what it is - I AM ALL EARS!!! Thanks - Volvokidpittsburgh. (sorry about the spelling)
