Early this morning it rained about an inch and was still raining when we went out for breakfast around 9:00.
Later we decided to go to an estate sale a friend was having (after moving into an assisted living facility).
We came out and noticed the V70T5 had a nearly flat front tire, way too low to drive on.
So I got out the spare and the lug wrench and the jack and started to loosen the lug bolts.
The wrench I was using was a ½" drive rachet handle with a deep 3/4" socket and an 8" piece of steel tubing
for a cheater. Try as I might I could only get ONE bolt loose. A neigbor came over and tried, then went home
for a longer cheater. With it he was not able to break any more bolts loose but DID destroy the rachet handle.
I called AAA and after half an hour they showed up. The guy's battery-powered impact wrench did no good either.
(He said it was rated at 400 ft-lb.) So he tried his 4-way lug wrench by hand and twisted the steel shank.
Failing that I told him to inflate the tire and I could probably drive the car to the guys who put it on.
Which I did. They managed to get it off and at my direction, retorqued all the lugbolts after attributing the
flat to a loose valve core.
By that time it was pushing 3 pm so we went and got some lunch.
Later I disconnected the charger and tried to start the Yellow Peril. (It was pretty dry by then.)
It acted as though it was going to start but due to an ignition switch problem I accidentally shut it off.
There was not enough soup left in the battery to do it again.
I have 3 batteries on 3 chargers overnight and we'll see how things go Saturday.
Meanwhile we went to the opening event of OKMozart this evening. They gave door prize tickets with food
and drink purchases and with one of the tickets we won concert tickets for June 17 worth $90.
That is our 47th anniversary.
So things are sorta looking up and (Lord willing) I'll have good things to report tomorrow!
Have a GREAT weekend!
