242 gt dashboard stripes 200 1980

My '80 gt is missing the orange stripes along the dash. I've never been in another gt, so I was wondering if someone could tell me if the stripes were some kind of clip-on strip or if the rubber/foam strip was painted...

also, does anyone have any recommendations for replacing the orange striping? i was thinking of just spray painting the pieces but i'm afraid it would look terrible.
