My son and I are trying to keep alive our '91 240 wagon.

When replacing the alternator recently, a wire that shares the same harness as the alternator came lose from the engine block. I spliced and replaced it into what appears to be a sensor of some sort.

My question: What is it that this wire is connected to?

Just curious....
