I'm nearing the reassembly point on a cylinder hear gasket replacement--the head will be back from the machine shop tomorrow. As I peered under the hood today, looking at what needs to be replaced or reconnected, I saw that there is a small diameter hose (tube?) coming out of a device that sticks up from the center of the intake manifold. On of my manuals identifies it as a "cold start valve". It has a short right-angle metal tube that points crosswise across the engine, then bends toward the firewall. the hose I mentioned is connected to that metal tube. I can't remember where it came from, and the other end isn't visible on any of the digital pictures I took during disassembly. The end of the tube is split about a half-inch from the end, so I'll have to replace it.
Questions: (1) where do I connect the end of that tube,(2) what is it called? and (3) can I replace it with any old piece of rubber tubing and if not, where can I get a replacement?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
