86 244 only idles 200 1986

Hi folks.......My 86 244 stranded me the other night. Quit after running only a few minutes. Quit dead.....would try to start but wouldn't hold idle. Unplugged AMM; got it to idle; but stalls if i even touch the accelerator pedal. Limped it at walking speed to a suitable parking spot. Went back the next day; messed with the timing; swapped in a known good AMM; generally poked around. No improvement. If there's not an easy fix in the parking lot, I'll have to have it towed home. Any ideas??
