Ok... This has been an ongoing struggle, and what i thought to be a blessing in disguise...might not be.
I just replaced the timing belt, and made SURE that all the gears were line up correct thanks to all the wonderful documentation, acounts, and photos of ya'll fellow brickboarders. Got a new fan belt as well and got it all sealed up right. Now, I go to turn over and start... it makes a sad struggling sound. 'WHHHIIiirr... WHHIirr...Whhirr... whirrr' (decreasing 'umpf' in the sound signified by capital letters) yet not even a glimpse of a start. Ive got gas to the engine, and sparks. The distibutor is the white capped version and the #1 is pointed twards the #1 sparkplug on the other side of the engine (about 7 or 8 oclock + I just put in a new rotor and cap). Now im wondering what exactly I did right or wrong and what the frick else is going on. I pray this is a solvable problem and nothing major, but im open to the truth and hope ya'll can share it with me. Many thanks for the help up to this point and here on out. Take care!
Joe
