I read through the FAQ/ archived material on seat repair a while ago and have done a few driver's-side bottoms recently: took apart a passenger seat, swapped covers, .... easy job - not much to it.
Replaced a seat back yesterday - a little harder but not bad if you don't move the lumbar support. But I found when done that a) the cover is loose; and more important b) the headrests don't interchange - support-rod spacing is different (as are the locking mechanisms, although don't think that's relevant).
The seat I'm fixing is from an 88; the other seat is an 86-87 (I forget which car it came from).
The loose cover could just be from wear but I don't think so. The headrest difference means I'll have to put a brown headrest on a blue seat.
