My new 940 with big rain water leak 900 1995

In early Dec I picked up a 95 940 with about 142K on the clock. I'm in the process of sorting it out and have several problems. I'll put the problems in different postings so that the subject line will relate.

I have a serious rainwater leak. I have studied the FAQs, but so far that has only revealed the points from which it is not leaking.

The leak fully wets the driver's side floor, both front and rear. I could be chasing more than one leak, but at this point I don't know. This is not a small leak. I used my shop vac and got about 3 quarts out of the front driver's side.

After a rain, I have seen that water is entering the car at the rubber boot in the door jam that feeds hot air to the driver's side window. The water is not inside the boot, but is coming out from below the boot where it passes through the plastic trim.

I have poured water down the fresh air vent and water runs out under the car, but not into the cabin. I have poured water into the sunroof with the same result. I have looked at the unused fresh air vent plug, and it seems sound and is lower than where I see the water entering the cabin.

This leads me to believe that it is the windshield, but I have not been able to see it leak when I pour a gallon or so of water over the driver's side of the windshield. I have only done this with a gallon jug as I don't have running water where I am working on it.

Before I condemn the windshield as the cause, does anyone have other suggestions?

Thanks,
Charley
